Introduction



My name is Velouria.

I write to remember; the good, the bad, and even that which I'd rather forget. I write to make each day seem like it meant something. I write to make sense of life and why some perish while others carry on forever.

I've lived for hundreds of years, more lifetimes than I'd care to count, (a woman never reveals her age.) There was a period in which I thought self-slaughter was the only answer, but as Shakespeare once said, "conscience does make cowards of us all." I may be immortal, but I am not immune to the plague that is human nature.

Some believe that time means nothing to the ever-living, but I disagree--it means everything! And to let those memories fade into black would truly make life meaningless. What are we if not a collection of our memories? The past defines us and lays course for our future. I hold onto the hope that there is a reason I am this way, and I pray one day I will find out why.
